Things to do in Leyte

Some of the places here in the Philippines have many things, places and festival to see. One of my best places I’ve been is the Region 8 or the Eastern Visayas Region.

Many tourist attractions like historical landmarks, manmade wonders, natural wonders and festival they’re well known for. As a tourist, we’re so very thankfull that Ms. Ludette Ruiz of Sudoy Ha Leyte showed us aound the place.

Region 8 got lots of places for us to see but due to lack of time, we unfortunately didn’t see farthermost of the capital like the donsol, the rock formation by the sea side and many more.

Places we’ve been in Tacloban (city capital of Region 8 ) and nearby places.
Historical Land Marks
The Leyte Landing Memorial in Red Beach, Palo, marks the spot where American liberation forces of General Douglas MacArthur landed during the World War II.

The Price Mansion – was used as a temporary seat of Government following the proclamation of the restoration of civil government in the Philippines. It also served as the general headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur during World War II.

Man-made wonders
Sto Nino Shrine – One of the rest houses that the late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos had built dring his time. Got lots of guest rooms, function rooms and paintings inside and it is said that the family of the Marcoses stayed there once.

The San Juanico Bridge is the longest bridge in the Philippines, with a length of 2 km. It crosses the San Juanico Strait, bridging the islands of Samar and Leyte. It is also known as the Marcos Bridge, it is said to have been presented as a Gift and “Testimonial of Love” by the Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos to the first lady, Imelda, a native of Leyte.
